In this workshop you will create a 3D character, maybe based on a popular culture character with some added twists, and then add a background scene. You will go through the process of concepting with sketches, then create the character in 3D, learning some 3D skills on the way, and there will be lighting an rendering. Then you will finalise the illustration in Photoshop, and work on the perfect composition to get the final look.
Intermediate to advanced illustration skills, firm in Photoshop; intermediate level knowledge of Blender or other 3D software (modelling, texturing, rendering).
Some drawing equipment for initial sketches; Laptop with Photoshop and 3D software installed (preferably Blender which is free to download; alternatively Modo, Cinema 4D, ZBrush).

ABOUT Jonathan Ball
Jonathan Ball, illustrator and founder of Pokedstudio, has built a reputation for wacky and non-conformist character designs, intricate worlds and video graphics. He has a passion for low brow art forms and popular surrealism styles. Apart from creating characters, he has many years of experience in developing brands, packaging, logo illustrations, animations, adverts, display fonts, game concepts, and storyboards.
Amongst his clients are MTV, BBC, Sony, Playstation, Microsoft, Nickelodeon, Doritos, Channel 4, Fight My Monster, Mattel, or Disney, to name just a few, and he has worked with agencies like Sattchi & Sattchi, Proximity London, Sequence, Preloaded, Zodiak, Phenonemon, Love Creative, CHI&Partners, and many more. His designs were published in Computer Arts, Popular Mechanic, FHM, Men's Health, 3D world, 3D arts, Super Modified, illustration Now Vol 4, Big Book of Illustration Ideas, FRRRESH, 3D Creative, Art of Blender, , and he has also been part of exhibitions around the world, most recently in Pictoplasma Berlin 2015 as well in Gusto Robusto´s exhibition in Treviso 2016.
